January 2023

Dear Windham Mountain Homeowner,

Let me take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy and a successful New Year.  It looks like we had a good start to our Skiing Season, but we have since had such a varied range of temperatures that we will just have to hold our breath.  But it doesn’t lessen our hopes for an exciting season.

The WMOA has had yet another busy and successful summer improving our way of life and standard of living:

Projects underway for 2023:  With all of the added consumers of the Windham Mountain water system, we may have exceeded the reservoir capacity during peak periods.  This is evident by the frequent use of the town water interconnect, which was designed to support our system during rare events.  To this end we have developed and sent out a (RFP) request for proposal to several local engineering companies.  This will be discussed in greater detail at our Annual Owners Meeting.

Project achievements in 2022 in support of WMOA:

  1. The review of the status of all our roads by the Roads and Maintenance Committee was conducted to evaluate the success of the repairs made the prior year. They identified areas in need of additional enhancements, and took the initiative to work with the Mountain to make the appropriate upgrades.  This included the addition of water drainage, widening and deepening of culverts, and patching where necessary.
  1. The maintenance of the WMOA Website: windhammountainhoa.com. The sites functionality is very extensive, please make a visit and become familiar with its components.  The website should become your go to for keeping up to date and making changes to your contact information as they happen.
  1. Windham Mountain Achievements: Windham Mountain’s investments in snow making technology continue to benefit the mountain community, season after season.  The expansion of automated snow making on most favorite trails, higher-quality snow is made more efficiently in much less time than the manual process of turning on each individual snow gun.

In addition to the enhancements being made by Windham Mountain Resorts, we have seen the construction of new homes, and the remodeling and enhancements of many others.  It is my understanding that Windham Mountain has become a hot bed of home sales.  There are currently no homes for sale on the Mountain that we are aware of, and when they do go up for sale they do not stay on the market very long.

The WMOA Board is an all-volunteer board.  The Board members are Chris Falkenberg (Vice President), Nick Pera, George Gallate (Secretary), John P. Lane (Treasurer), Britta Garcia (Audit), Vincent Angiolillo, Paul Mutter, Mary Ellen Gilgan, Dennis Moore, Schuyler Winter, Stephen Miller, Joseph Gorberg, Tim Carey and myself Charles Presti (President).  Most of the board members have been part of Windham Mountain for decades.  It is this connection to Windham Mountain that binds us.  This connection enhances our strong influence on mountain matters.  We continue to look for Home Owners to join the Board.  If you are interested in being a participating member of the WMOA Board, please contact Nick Pera at [email protected].

The 2023 WMOA Annual Member Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 3PM via Zoom.  You will receive an invitation via email with the meeting name and pass code.

Best regards,

Charles V. Presti

WMOA President
